ICE arrests person near Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose
ICE agents arrested a person Tuesday morning near the Santa Clara County Main Jail in San Jose, according to a local coalition.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested a person Tuesday morning in San Jose near the Santa Clara County Main Jail, according to the Rapid Response Network (RRN), a coalition that monitors ICE activity in Santa Clara County.
The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. at the intersection of West Hedding Street and North San Pedro Drive. RRN members arrived at the scene about 20 minutes later and confirmed that ICE agents had left the area by then.
Additional details about the arrest were not immediately available. On Monday, the coalition reported no recent raids or increase in ICE enforcement activity in the South Bay region.
This arrest follows two others in the East Bay last Friday, where ICE agents detained individuals in Emeryville and Oakland. Those detainees reportedly suffered injuries requiring hospitalization, leading the Alameda County Immigration Legal Education Partnership to accuse ICE of using excessive force during those arrests.
