The San Jose Sharks secured a 4-3 overtime victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, overcoming a two-goal deficit in the third period. According to Mercury News, Michael Misa and Tyler Toffoli each scored to tie the game before Macklin Celebrini scored the game-winning power-play goal at 2:11 of overtime.

Celebrini's goal came shortly after Canadiens goalie Jakub Dobes was called for interference. Celebrini's second goal of the game was his fifth of the season, and it helped the Sharks rally for what was described as one of their biggest wins of the season. The Bell Centre crowd was reportedly stunned by the outcome, as noted by East Bay Times.

Sharks coach Ryan Warsofsky delivered a direct message during the second intermission, which seemed to inspire the team. Warsofsky emphasized the importance of the players understanding how they need to play. The Sharks improved their overall record to 5-4-1 and their road trip record to 2-1-1 with this win.

The Sharks had experienced recent setbacks, including a shootout loss to the Detroit Red Wings and a 3-1 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs where they allowed two power-play goals due to penalties. Warsofsky acknowledged the team's rough moments but praised their ability to regroup and find their game in the third period against Montreal.

Center Alexander Wennberg was out for the game against the Canadiens, as reported by Times-Standard and East Bay Times, but the team managed to rally without him.

The Sharks will look to maintain their momentum as they continue their six-game road trip.

What we're watching: How the Sharks build on this comeback win and manage player absences moving forward.
