Trump campaigns in Texas ahead of midterm elections next week
With one week until midterms, Trump holds rallies in Texas and comments on election outcomes and key races.
ABC News reported that President Donald Trump is making his fourth trip to Texas since Labor Day to campaign ahead of the midterm elections scheduled for November 3, 2026. He is set to hold two rallies in Lubbock and Corpus Christi as Republicans focus on battleground races in the state.
Trump indicated he would work with Democrats if they gain control of Congress but emphasized his strong veto power. He also said he would respect the election results "if they're honest," a remark reflecting his previous claims of widespread voter fraud, according to ABC News.
Regarding the competitive Texas Senate race, Trump commented on GOP candidate Ken Paxton's chances against Democrat James Talarico, suggesting Paxton would do "very well" but acknowledging the unpredictability of politics.
The midterm elections are seen as pivotal for determining the balance of power in Congress and influencing the effectiveness of President Trump's agenda during the latter half of his second term, ABC News noted.
