The Pentagon is funding a naval training facility in Ecuador’s largest city, according to The Hill.

This initiative is part of the U.S. government’s efforts to strengthen security cooperation with Ecuador to target drug cartels operating in South America, The Hill reported.

Virginia-based contractor Culmen International has been awarded a contract to assist in designing and constructing the naval military training center, The Hill stated.

The project reflects ongoing U.S. commitment to supporting regional security and counter-narcotics operations in collaboration with Ecuador.

Further details about the timeline or scale of the facility were not provided in the report.
