Judge blocks Trump administration rule speeding up refugee status revocations

A federal judge temporarily halts a rule requiring refugees to challenge status termination within 10 days.

A federal judge in Boston has temporarily blocked a Trump administration rule that shortens the time refugees have to contest the termination of their legal status to just 10 days, The Hill reported.

U.S. District Judge Julia Kobick issued the order on Tuesday, halting enforcement of the rule until November 6.

The pause allows another judge additional time to review whether the rule should be blocked permanently, according to The Hill.

The Trump administration had implemented the rule to speed up the process of revoking refugee status, but the judge's temporary block prevents immediate enforcement.

The decision reflects ongoing judicial scrutiny of changes to refugee policies under the Trump administration.
