U.S. and Israel reportedly planning potential strike on Iran after elections
Reports say the U.S. and Israel are drawing up plans for a possible attack on Iran following upcoming elections.
According to NPR's Daniel Estrin reporting from Tel Aviv, the U.S. and Israel are working on plans for a potential strike on Iran as early as November, after Israeli and U.S. elections.
The Financial Times and The New York Times first reported this information, which came from a source briefed on the matter but not authorized to speak publicly.
Israel had initially planned a strike for mid-October, but the U.S. ruled it out at that time, the source said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has denied the reports but has openly threatened an attack on Iran during his reelection campaign, promising to remove the nuclear threat posed by Iran's new supreme leader.
President Trump endorsed Netanyahu's reelection bid, stating the need to 'finish the job in Iran' and emphasizing the importance of Israeli support.
Netanyahu has directed Israeli military and intelligence agencies to overthrow the Iranian regime to eliminate the nuclear threat, citing previous conflicts with Iran.
