Thailand's 10 listed banks report 9.7% drop in Q3 net profit
Combined net profit of Thailand's listed banks fell to 65.8 billion baht amid lower interest income and easing financing costs.
Thailand's 10 banks listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand reported a combined net profit of 65.8 billion baht in the third quarter, marking a 9.7% decline compared to the previous year, according to econotimes.com.
Bangkok Bank experienced the largest profit drop among major lenders, with net profit falling 31.2% to 9.48 billion baht, as reported to the Stock Exchange of Thailand. The bank attributed the decline to lower net interest income resulting from rate cuts aimed at supporting economic recovery and reducing customer financing costs.
Other major banks also reported profit declines: Krungthai Bank's net profit fell 13.9%, SCB X by 11.5%, and Kasikornbank by 2.21%. Bank of Ayudhya (Krungsri) had the smallest decrease at 1.39%, according to the Bangkok Post.
Kasikornbank noted that noninterest income from financial instruments dropped due to market volatility, and fee income decreased amid new standardized fee rules and challenging market conditions. The bank also cited fragile household purchasing power, flood impacts, Middle East uncertainty, and global energy prices as factors contributing to elevated costs.
Despite the profit declines, lending activity increased. The Bangkok Post reported positive loan growth in Thailand's banking system during the first nine months of 2026, mainly driven by lending to large borrowers.
