USC beats No. 2 Ohio State 30-18 with strong plays from Maiava and Mosley
USC stunned Ohio State at the Coliseum, marking a major win for coach Lincoln Riley and energizing local fans.
USC secured a 30-18 victory over No. 2 Ohio State on Halloween night at the Coliseum, delivering the biggest win of head coach Lincoln Riley's tenure, CBS News Los Angeles reported.
Quarterback Jayden Maiava passed for 222 yards and a touchdown, while King Miller and Waymond Jordan contributed rushing touchdowns. Freshman Trent Mosley made a 69-yard touchdown catch early in the game and totaled 101 receiving yards.
USC's defense kept Ohio State from scoring a touchdown for nearly the entire game, allowing only a late score with just over two minutes remaining. Ohio State's offense, led by freshman quarterback Luke Fahey, amassed 464 total yards but could not overcome USC's lead.
The Trojans' win marked their first over a top-five opponent at the Coliseum since 2015, prompting students and fans to storm the field in celebration. This victory also ended Ohio State's strong record against unranked teams under coach Ryan Day.
The game took place under light, steady rain, adding to the dramatic atmosphere of the upset. USC improved to 7-2 overall and 4-2 in their conference, while Ohio State fell to 6-2 and 4-1 in theirs.
