Washington DC held its 2026 midterm election on November 3, with voters deciding on Initiative Measure No. 86, according to FOX 5 DC. The initiative proposes to prohibit the force-feeding of birds, a practice commonly used in foie gras production.

The measure also includes a ban on the sale and distribution of foie gras products within the district. Enforcement of the new law would be managed by the Department of Energy and Environment, with civil penalties imposed for violations.

In addition to the ballot initiative, DC voters participated in elections for local offices including the attorney general race and the non-voting U.S. House delegate seat, as reported by FOX 5 DC.

The attorney general race features incumbent Brian Schwalb, a Democrat, facing Republican challenger Manuel Rivera. The U.S. House delegate seat is open as current delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton is not seeking re-election, with candidates Robert White (Democrat), Denise Rosado (Republican), and Kymone Freeman (D.C. Statehood Green) competing.

FOX 5 DC provided live coverage and real-time results throughout election night, serving as a key resource for local voters tracking outcomes in the district.
