Thousands of blood pressure medication bottles recalled nationwide including DC area
FDA recalls certain blood pressure medication lots due to quality test failures that may affect DC patients.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced a nationwide recall of thousands of bottles of blood pressure medication produced by Macleods Pharma USA, which may impact patients in the Washington DC area, FOX 5 DC reported.
The recall involves specific lots of Olmesartan Medoxomil, Amlodipine, and Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets that failed to meet federal quality standards, specifically failing dissolution specifications, meaning the pills did not dissolve properly during testing.
Affected products include 3,528 bottles of 30-count and 216 bottles of 90-count tablets with expiration dates of May 31, 2027. Consumers are advised to check their prescription bottles for the lot numbers and National Drug Codes listed by the FDA.
The recall is classified as Class II, indicating that use of the medication may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects, but serious health consequences are unlikely. Macleods Pharma USA initiated the recall on October 7, and the FDA classified it on October 26.
This recall follows a similar recent recall of blood pressure medication by another manufacturer due to quality issues, highlighting ongoing concerns about medication safety. The recall remains ongoing and affects products distributed nationwide, including the DC region.
