The UC Master Gardeners of Santa Clara County have released their November gardening tips specifically for Peninsula residents, including those in Palo Alto and surrounding areas, according to Palo Alto Online.

They recommend planting spring-blooming bulbs such as tulips in the fall to prepare for vibrant spring gardens. Additionally, gardeners are advised to keep aphids off broccoli crops to ensure healthy growth during the cooler months.

The tips also include guidance on preparing dahlias for winter to protect these plants from colder temperatures. Gardeners are encouraged to identify and manage critters that may be digging around yards during this time.

The UC Master Gardeners are volunteers trained through the University of California’s Cooperative Extension program. They provide research-based information on home horticulture, pest management, and sustainable landscaping tailored to the local climate and conditions.

Residents with gardening questions can reach out to the Master Gardeners via email for personalized advice, helping to foster successful and sustainable gardening practices in the Peninsula area.

These monthly tips aim to support local gardeners in maintaining healthy and thriving gardens throughout the year.
