The Palo Alto Unified School District saw uneven results in the 2025-26 state test scores, with a slight increase in math proficiency but a decrease in English language arts, according to Palo Alto Online reporting on data from the state Department of Education.

Overall, 81.25% of students scored proficient or advanced, but disparities remain significant for Latino and socioeconomically disadvantaged students, who continue to perform below the general student population.

Notably, Latino students showed a slight improvement in math scores, reversing a yearslong trend of decline, while English scores for the district dropped compared to previous years.

These results highlight ongoing achievement gaps within the district despite some progress in math, underscoring challenges in addressing educational equity in Palo Alto schools.
