Palo Alto is actively preparing its residents for the heightened risk of strong storms and flooding this winter due to El Niño, according to Palo Alto Online.

On October 29, the city hosted a storm preparedness open house at Fire Station 3, which drew over 100 attendees. The event provided information on historical floods, infrastructure improvements, and safety measures residents can take to protect their homes during emergencies.

This open house is part of an annual series held by the city for the past four years, but this year the focus is intensified because the National Weather Service forecasts strong storm activity.

Fire Chief Stephen Lindsey led tours during the event, emphasizing community readiness as the city braces for potential high winds and flood risks this season.
