On Election Day in Wichita, voters will encounter live music and DJs at 28 polling locations as part of a national initiative to make voting more engaging, KWCH reported. Mario Barnes, who works as a Future Ready Advocate Mentor for Wichita Public Schools, is one of the DJs participating in the effort under the name 'DJ Super Mario.'

The initiative, called 'DJs at the Polls,' was founded by Anton Moore, who aimed to make voting a fun and unifying experience through music. This marks the first year the organization has been active in Wichita, according to Moore.

Cindy Miles, CEO of the Urban League of Kansas, said the group hopes the positive atmosphere created by the music will help reduce voters' anxiety about the voting process, such as concerns about machines or ballot content. The Urban League is hosting one of the polling locations with a DJ.

Barnes emphasized that music has the power to bring people together and help overcome intimidation related to voting. Of the 28 locations with DJs, only three will be publicly disclosed, with the rest remaining a surprise to voters.

Voters are reminded to cast their ballots at their assigned polling places, which can be found on the official website, KWCH noted.
