Surrey County Council has launched its annual Warm Welcome scheme, running through March 31, 2027, to help residents stay warm and connected during the colder months, BBC reported.

More than 100 venues across the county, including community centers and libraries, are participating by offering free hot drinks and opportunities to socialize, according to the council's website.

The initiative aims to address challenges of keeping warm at home, with a focus on preventing isolation and cold, especially for those on low incomes, said Mark Nuti, cabinet member for health, wellbeing and public health, as reported by BBC.

In addition to providing warmth and companionship, the scheme offers energy advice and assistance accessing other support services, supported by the government-funded Crisis and Resilience Fund, BBC noted.
