No. 21 USC opens season with 95-63 win over Milwaukee
Adonis Ratliff scored 25 points in his debut as USC defeated Milwaukee 95-63 to start the season.
No. 21 Southern California began its basketball season with a 95-63 victory over Milwaukee, according to CBS News Los Angeles and Yahoo Sports. Adonis Ratliff scored 25 points in his collegiate debut, while Alijah Arenas contributed 21 points and a career-high eight rebounds.
Darius Ratliff, Adonis' twin brother, added 14 points and five blocks in his first game for the Trojans. Rodney Rice scored 15 points and provided nine assists in his return from a season-ending shoulder injury, and KJ Lewis added 10 points.
USC shot 56.9% from the field, including 12 of 22 from three-point range, and never trailed throughout the game. The Trojans led 46-29 at halftime, fueled by strong shooting and defense that forced Milwaukee into nine turnovers in the first half.
Milwaukee's Amare Hereford scored 14 points and Tre Norman had 13. Milwaukee guard John Lovelace Jr. injured his left leg in the second half and did not return after walking off with an athletic trainer.
The Ratliff brothers are part of a highly regarded freshman class for USC, which also includes recruit Christian Collins, who did not play in this game. This win marks USC's third consecutive season-opening victory under coach Eric Musselman.
