Chula Vista man sentenced to 27 years to life for wife’s 2021 murder
Larry Millete was sentenced after being convicted of killing his wife, May Millete, who disappeared more than five years ago.
Larry Millete, a Chula Vista man convicted of murdering his wife, May "Maya" Millete, was sentenced Monday to 27 years to life in state prison, Times of San Diego reported.
May Millete vanished on January 7, 2021, and has not been seen or heard from since. Millete was found guilty of first-degree murder four months ago in connection with her death.
Prosecutors stated that Millete killed his wife in their home after she sought a divorce, then loaded her body into an SUV and disposed of it on January 8. There is a 12-hour period on that day when Millete's whereabouts are unknown.
Despite the body never being found, police and prosecutors maintain there is no evidence suggesting May Millete was alive after January 7-8, 2021. At the sentencing hearing, Millete expressed regret and denied being a monster, hoping to reconcile with May’s family.
Some of May Millete's family members reacted angrily during the hearing, demanding to know the location of her body and the reasons behind the killing.
