White House press secretary Katie Zacharia fired after 5 days

Katie Zacharia has been dismissed as White House press secretary after only five days in the role, marking the shortest tenure in the position's history, CBS News reported.

Her time in the role was marked by controversy, including questions about her legal credentials and a widely criticized press briefing, according to NBC News.

Following her departure, President Trump is searching for a new press secretary, as reported by CBS News.

PBS NewsHour noted that Zacharia is 'transitioning out' of the role after less than a week, highlighting the rapid change in one of the administration's highest-profile posts.

Political commentators discussed the implications of Zacharia's quick exit and other current political developments on PBS NewsHour's program.
