Charleston Police Department detectives arrested a 35-year-old Charleston woman in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred Wednesday night on South Street in downtown Charleston, according to live5news.com and WCIV.

Officers responded around 10 p.m. and found a 46-year-old man dead from a gunshot wound to the neck. A 47-year-old woman was also found wounded from a gunshot inside a nearby residence, police said.

The Charleston County Coroner identified the deceased man as Chevelle Hamilton of Charleston. Investigators determined the victims were shot by an acquaintance following an argument over a drug transaction, according to WCIV.

The suspect, Susan Lee Wright, was arrested at Charleston Police Department headquarters the following day and charged with murder, assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a firearm during a violent crime, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a violent offense.

Wright is being held at the Charleston County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. The investigation remains active, and authorities ask anyone with information to contact the Charleston Police Department.
