The New York Yankees have previously shown interest in San Diego Padres relief pitcher Jeremiah Estrada, according to reports from the New York Post and MLB Trade Rumors.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post noted that the Yankees have long eyed Estrada, a right-handed reliever entering his first year of arbitration. Estrada has a career ERA of 3.47 and a strikeout rate of 34.2 percent, making him a valuable bullpen asset.

MLB Trade Rumors added that while it is unclear when the Yankees’ interest began or if any trade discussions with the Padres took place, Estrada was also reportedly discussed by the New York Mets during trade talks with San Diego last winter.

Estrada, who will turn 28 soon, completed his third season with the Padres bullpen in 2026. However, his season was limited to 31 innings due to multiple injuries, including elbow tendinitis, knee inflammation, and a shoulder impingement that ended his season early.

The Yankees are reportedly looking to rebuild their bullpen this offseason, and Estrada’s injury history may be a consideration in any potential acquisition.

What we're watching: Whether the Yankees renew interest in Estrada or explore other bullpen options during the offseason.
