49ers' Mike Evans leaves game with Achilles soreness ahead of Falcons matchup
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans exited Monday's game due to Achilles soreness, raising questions about his availability against Atlanta Falcons.
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Mike Evans was unable to finish Monday night's 23-17 victory over the Washington Commanders because of soreness in his right Achilles tendon, abc7news.com reported.
Evans had not practiced all week due to the issue but informed coach Kyle Shanahan he felt ready to play. Shanahan allowed him to suit up with the understanding that Evans might not last the entire game.
During the game, Evans left after experiencing the same Achilles soreness that had kept him out of practice Thursday through Saturday. Shanahan described the injury as Achilles tendonitis, which Evans has dealt with previously.
Shanahan indicated that further testing on Evans' Achilles is unlikely and expressed hope that Evans will recover in time for the 49ers' upcoming game against the Atlanta Falcons, which is their last before a Week 8 bye.
If Evans is unable to play, Shanahan said the rest of the team would need to step up while they focus on his recovery.
Atlanta Falcons fans and local sports followers will be watching closely to see if Evans can return for the game in Atlanta this Sunday.
