8-year-old dies in Coweta County ATV accident

An 8-year-old boy died after an ATV accident in Coweta County, troopers say.

An 8-year-old boy died in an ATV accident on Pate Road in Newnan, Coweta County, according to the Georgia State Patrol and Atlanta News First.

The incident occurred around 4:15 p.m. when the child, believed to be driving a green Honda ATV, went off the road to the right, hit a mailbox, then veered left and overturned. The boy was thrown from the vehicle.

Coweta County Sheriff's deputies and EMS responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures, but the child was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Coweta County Sheriff's Office expressed condolences to the family and stated the investigation is ongoing. Atlanta News First will provide updates as more information becomes available.
