A 78-year-old woman was injured early Wednesday when her car drifted across a median and collided with a tree in the Mira Mesa neighborhood of San Diego, according to the San Diego Police Department.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Mercy Road near the 9400 block, where the woman was driving a white 2021 Lexus ES300 westbound. For reasons still undetermined, the vehicle crossed a raised center median into eastbound lanes, then left the roadway and struck a large tree.

Emergency responders transported the woman to a hospital where she was treated for bilateral femur fractures and a fractured right ankle. Authorities confirmed her injuries were non-life-threatening.

Police investigations ruled out driving under the influence as a factor in the crash. Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the investigation command or Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.
