New Route 66 documentary to screen in Escondido on Oct. 25
Filmmaker John Paget's follow-up documentary on Route 66 will be shown at the Grand Ritz Theater in Escondido.
Filmmaker John Paget is touring with his documentary 'Route 66: The Main Street of America,' which explores the revitalization of towns along the historic Route 66. The film follows up on his 1994 documentary that examined the impact of interstate freeways on small towns, many of which suffered economic decline.
Paget's new film will premiere in California at the California Theater in San Bernardino on October 23. It will then be screened at the Grand Ritz Theater in Escondido on October 25, providing a local opportunity for residents to view the documentary.
The filmmaker aims to inspire Americans to rediscover Route 66 and learn about the resilience of communities that survived being bypassed by the interstate system. Paget will also participate in audience question sessions at some screenings.
The screenings are part of the centennial celebration of Route 66, highlighting the historical and cultural significance of the highway and the towns along its path, including those in Southern California.
This event offers San Diego area residents a chance to engage with the history of Route 66 and its ongoing legacy through Paget's documentary and discussions.
