Friends and family of Antoinette Forbes were shocked when she and her 10-year-old son went missing from their Washington DC home on Labor Day, WTOP reported. The front door of the house was found unlocked, and Forbes' wallet, phones, laptop, and dog were all still inside, while her car remained in the driveway.

Elizabeth Northrup, a close friend of Forbes, described arriving at the scene to find police vehicles with flashing lights and neighbors gathered outside the home on Nebraska Avenue. The police had not initially disclosed details about the disappearance to those close to Forbes.

Forbes, a 53-year-old communications executive at a major drug company and a dedicated mother, was known for her strength and independence, traits inspired by her mother who was a doctor and immigrant from the Philippines, according to her sister Aileen Forbes.

While the son was later confirmed safe, the circumstances surrounding Antoinette Forbes' disappearance remain unclear, leaving friends and family searching for answers and hoping for her safe return.
