Democrats flip key House seats in Michigan and Texas
Democratic candidates won open congressional seats in Michigan and Texas, flipping districts previously held by Republicans.
Democratic prosecutor Christina Hines was projected to win Michigan’s 10th Congressional District, flipping a GOP-held seat in Detroit suburbs, according to Decision Desk HQ (DDHQ). She will succeed Rep. John James, who did not seek reelection to run for governor with President Trump's endorsement, The Hill reported.
In Texas, Democrat Katy Padilla Stout was projected to win the 23rd Congressional District, a seat formerly held by Republican Tony Gonzales. Padilla Stout defeated Republican Brandon Herrera, a YouTube personality and firearms advocate endorsed by President Trump, according to DDHQ and The Hill.
These results represent Democratic gains in districts previously held by Republicans.
