Baltimore County is considering a change to its official seal to represent the upcoming expansion of the county council from seven to nine members, WYPR reported.

The current seal, designed in 1957 by Towson resident Adelaide Haspert, features seven stars symbolizing the seven councilmanic districts at that time.

With the new council districts set to be sworn in December, county officials are discussing adding two additional stars to the seal to reflect this historic change.

Brad Kroner, Deputy Director of Government Affairs, described the expansion as a historic moment for the county, highlighting the effort and debate involved in moving from seven to nine council members.
