It has been over nine months since Veterans Affairs nurse Alex Pretti was shot by federal immigration agents in Minnesota, and his parents say they have received no updates or support from the federal government, ABC News reported.

Susan and Michael Pretti made a public plea to the Justice Department on October 27, 2026, asking for the release of all evidence related to the investigation and for greater accountability. No charges have been filed in connection with the January 24 shooting.

The couple emphasized that they are not seeking special treatment or political activism, but simply justice for their son, according to ABC News.

The shooting sparked protests and criticism of the Trump administration, Immigration Customs and Enforcement, and other federal agencies. Susan Pretti accused the federal government of lying about Alex and attempting to slander his memory to cover up wrongdoing.

Following the incident, then-Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem described Alex Pretti as having "committed an act of domestic terrorism," ABC News noted.

A Justice Department spokesperson responded to the Prettis' claims in a statement to ABC News, though details of the response were not provided in the report.
