Asian stock markets showed mostly positive movement Wednesday, driven by gains in artificial intelligence-related stocks, according to WTOP and WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando. South Korea's Kospi index rose 5.6% to 5,952.41, with memory chipmaker SK Hynix increasing 7% after reporting a record operating profit of 83.3 trillion won ($62.8 billion) for the last quarter, a nearly seven-fold increase from the previous year. Samsung Electronics surged 8.5% ahead of its upcoming third-quarter earnings report.

Japan's Nikkei 225 benchmark climbed 1.3% to 64,094.51, supported by semiconductor maker Kioxia Holdings, which rose 9.6% ahead of its quarterly earnings announcement. In contrast, Hong Kong's Hang Seng index declined 0.7% to 23,041.32, while China's Shanghai Composite edged up 0.5% to 3,666.50.

On Wall Street, the S&P 500 increased 0.6%, nearing its all-time high by 1.2%, with the Nasdaq composite gaining 1.2%. Despite most S&P 500 stocks falling, influential AI stocks offset declines. Broadcom rose 4% following a $63 billion financing deal facilitating Anthropic's access to Broadcom's AI accelerators and networking solutions. Nvidia added 0.9%, and CoreWeave, a cloud AI chip rental company, jumped 7.9%.

The Reserve Bank of New Zealand surprised markets by keeping its benchmark interest rate steady at 2.75% amid a busy week for central banks, as reported by both sources.

Overall, these developments reflect ongoing investor interest in AI-related companies despite concerns about borrowing costs and economic pressures, with key earnings reports expected in the coming days.
