Coastal flood warning in effect for Miami-Dade until 8 PM today
NWS warns of significant coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents along Miami-Dade coast through this evening.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for coastal Miami-Dade County, effective until 8 PM EDT today, October 28. This warning indicates significant coastal flooding is expected in the area.
In addition to the flood warning, a High Rip Current Risk is in place through this evening, posing dangerous conditions for swimmers. After 8 PM, a Coastal Flood Advisory will remain in effect until 8 PM Thursday, signaling moderate coastal flooding.
The NWS advises that numerous roads may be closed due to flooding, and low-lying properties including homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure could be inundated. Some shoreline erosion is also anticipated.
Residents and visitors are urged to exercise caution near the shore and avoid swimming in areas with rip currents, as these currents can carry even strong swimmers away from the shore into deeper water.
