The Baltimore Streetcar Museum is preparing a $28 million capital campaign to renovate and expand its city campus as it marks its 60th anniversary, FOX45 Baltimore reported.

Two buildings associated with the museum—the freight house at 2201 Falls Road and a former Maryland and Pennsylvania Railroad roundhouse at 2601 Falls Road—were recently added to the National Register of Historic Places, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The roundhouse is owned by the City of Baltimore, and the museum is negotiating a long-term lease to take over the property, museum executive director Matthew Nawn said.

Nawn told The Baltimore Sun that the national landmark status will open new financial opportunities and elevate the museum’s significance beyond being just a collection of old buildings.
