The Butler County Veterans Service Commission has been requesting additional office space for several years due to increasing demand and overcrowding, according to journal-news.com.

Executive Director Mike Farmer presented a $4.46 million budget proposal for 2027 that includes $250,000 to lease approximately 13,000 square feet of office space to the county commissioners.

Currently, the veterans board occupies a small corner on the first floor of the Government Services Center in downtown Hamilton, where employees must share offices to maintain client meeting privacy.

Following the budget hearing, the veterans board recommended leasing fourth-floor space on the city side of the Government Services Center, pending county commissioners' approval of the lease.

The county already leases space for courts in the old municipal court building, and the new budgeted amount covers leasing costs as well as moving expenses and related costs.
