Coastal flood warning in Miami-Dade and Broward until Tuesday evening
National Weather Service warns of moderate to major coastal flooding and dangerous rip currents through Tuesday.
The National Weather Service has issued a Coastal Flood Warning for coastal areas of Miami-Dade and Broward counties. The warning is in effect from 2 AM Monday until 8 PM Tuesday, with advisories expected to continue through much of next week following the peak of King Tides, WRAL reported.
Moderate coastal flooding is expected around high tide periods, escalating to major flood stage on Monday and Tuesday. This flooding may inundate low-lying properties including homes, businesses, and critical infrastructure, according to the NWS Miami FL.
Numerous road closures are possible due to the flooding impacts. Additionally, some shoreline erosion is anticipated during this period.
Life-threatening rip currents are forecast through late Tuesday night. The NWS cautions that rip currents can sweep even strong swimmers away from shore into deeper water, emphasizing the need for caution near the coast.
