A Día de Muertos vigil was held in San Diego to mourn those who have died while in Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody, KPBS reported.
The event took place days after the death of a 43-year-old man inside a cell at the Otay Mesa Detention Center, according to KPBS.
The vigil aimed to honor the deceased and raise awareness about the conditions and treatment of detainees in ICE facilities.
Organizers emphasized the importance of not becoming desensitized to these deaths and continuing to advocate for detainees' rights and humane treatment.
