Millions poured into San Diego politics ahead of 2026 midterms
Top spenders include California Democratic Party, Measure B campaign, and California Leads super PAC.
Money is flowing into San Diego County politics at unprecedented levels ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, according to Voice of San Diego and KPBS.
The largest campaign spenders in the region so far are the California Democratic Party, the 'Yes on B' campaign supporting Measure B, and a super PAC named California Leads, Voice of San Diego reported.
Major donors contributing significant funds include the Laborers International Union of North America Local 89, the California Association of Realtors, and Sharp HealthCare, KPBS noted.
Some spending occurred during the primary election period, such as the California Association of Realtors' opposition to a second home tax and Sharp HealthCare's support for a North County ballot measure involving Tri-City Healthcare District.
The data reviewed covers spending reported up to October 17, 2026, with additional expenditures expected before the November election; final disclosures will be available in February 2027, Voice of San Diego explained.
The analysis focused exclusively on San Diego County campaign finance filings and excluded federal race data, with artificial intelligence tools aiding in the collection and review process, KPBS added.
