Fleetwood Town, a League Two club ranked 84 places below Arsenal, defeated the Premier League champions on penalties to advance to the EFL Cup quarter-finals, BBC Sport reported.

The match saw Fleetwood take an early lead in the 21st minute through Aaron Loupalo-Bi, with Arsenal equalizing after the break via Viktor Gyokeres.

Fleetwood was reduced to 10 men in the 86th minute when teenager Max Dowman was sent off following a challenge by Harrison Neal, according to BBC Sport.

In the penalty shootout, Fleetwood goalkeeper Jay Lynch saved a spot kick from Bruno Guimaraes, and Conor Haughey scored the winning penalty, sparking celebrations at Fleetwood's Highbury Stadium.

BBC Sport highlighted this as one of the biggest upsets in the history of the FA Cup and League Cup, noting the significant gap in league positions between the two teams.

The victory marks the biggest win in Fleetwood Town's history and places their achievement among other notable cup shocks, such as Grimsby Town's win over Manchester United.
