Bilt changes rewards structure and benefits starting January 2027

Bilt will simplify its rewards program in 2027, introducing new expiration rules and limiting earning options for new cardholders.

Bilt is updating its rewards program in 2027, including a shift to a simplified earnings structure and new credit card benefits, The Points Guy reported. Starting January 1, new Bilt credit card holders will only be able to select a "housing-only" rewards option, earning up to 1.25 points per dollar spent on rent or mortgage payments, but no longer earning 4% Bilt Cash on purchases.

Existing cardholders who want to continue earning 4% Bilt Cash must opt into this option before their cardmember anniversary, as the ability to switch back after that date will be locked, according to The Points Guy. This opt-in functionality is already available in the Bilt app.

Additionally, Bilt Cash will now expire on a rolling 12-month basis starting immediately. For example, Bilt Cash earned in November 2026 will expire at the end of November 2027. This expiration policy will apply retroactively to existing balances, with the Bilt app providing clear indications of expiration dates.

While some benefits will be more restricted in 2027, The Points Guy noted that the program remains valuable after its overhaul earlier in 2026 and the expansion of transfer partners. The changes aim to improve clarity and usability for cardholders.
