Nearly 1.2 million Virginians have already cast their ballots in early voting ahead of the upcoming midterm Election Day, WRIC reported. This represents a significant increase compared to previous years.

In Richmond, voters are particularly focused on key issues such as state constitutional ballot measures and a proposed 1% sales tax to fund public schools, NBC12 reported. Voters expressed support for education funding as a priority.

Officials noted that the early voting process is efficient, with check-in times averaging around 13 seconds when voters have their ID ready, according to the Henrico County Voter Registrar. Despite occasional lines, the process remains smooth.

The Virginia Public Access Project highlighted an 86% increase in early voting compared to the same point in 2022, reflecting heightened voter enthusiasm. Good weather has also contributed to strong turnout, officials said.

Early voting continues through Saturday, with Election Day voting available on Tuesday for those who have not yet cast their ballots. Local voters are encouraging others to participate before the deadline.
