Gold Line light rail closes for weekend maintenance in Charlotte
Charlotte's Gold Line light rail will be closed from early Saturday to Monday morning for biannual maintenance.
The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) announced that the Gold Line light rail service will be suspended starting at 2 a.m. on Saturday, October 24, and will resume at 4 a.m. on Monday, October 26, according to WBTV.
The Gold Line runs from French Street Station through Uptown Charlotte to the Elizabeth neighborhood and Plaza Midwood area, serving key parts of the city.
Due to construction in the Trade Street area, no bus bridge service will be provided during the closure. However, riders can use alternate CATS bus routes to reach destinations along the Gold Line corridor.
The Blue Line light rail will continue to operate during this period, connecting the southern edge of Charlotte through Uptown to the UNC Charlotte campus, providing an alternative transit option for some riders.
