Ireland captain Paul Stirling out of Namibia series with fractured finger
Ireland captain Paul Stirling will miss the final two ODIs in Namibia after fracturing his finger while fielding.
Ireland captain Paul Stirling will miss the last two matches of the one-day international series against Namibia due to a fractured finger, Yahoo Sports and BBC Sport reported.
The 36-year-old injured his finger while fielding during Ireland's loss in the third ODI, which leaves Ireland trailing Namibia 2-1 in the five-match series.
Stirling had scored half-centuries in the first two games, leading Ireland with scores of 56 and 77, but was unable to bat in the third match following his injury.
Tim Tector, who is uncapped in ODIs but has played eight T20 matches for Ireland, has been called up as Stirling's replacement, according to both outlets.
The series is being used by Ireland as preparation for next year's World Cup qualifiers. The matches will resume on Friday and conclude on Sunday.
