Liverpool secured the signing of defender Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes for £60 million during the summer transfer window, beating competition from Chelsea, BBC Sport reported.

Since joining Liverpool, Jacquet has started every Premier League and Champions League match, playing more minutes than any outfield player at the club this season except goalkeeper Alisson, according to Yahoo Sports.

Jacquet's transition to Liverpool has been notable, especially given his recovery from a broken shoulder in February and a knee problem in the summer, which delayed his debut until a pre-season friendly against Como.

The defender's assured performances have drawn positive attention, contrasting with another French centre-back, Leny Yoro, who chose to join Manchester United and recently made a costly error in a match against Bournemouth.

Liverpool's decision to pursue Jacquet came after considering Yoro in 2024, with Jacquet now filling the centre-back position left vacant by Ibrahima Konate's departure to Real Madrid.

Jacquet's confidence is reflected in his social media, where he shared lyrics about trusting the process and plan following Liverpool's clean sheet against Brighton, as noted by BBC Sport.
