The Miami Dolphins secured their first win of the season with a 28-25 victory over the New York Jets, according to CBS News Miami. The win marked the team's first victory under coach Jeff Hafley, who expressed appreciation for his players after the game, as reported by WSVN 7News.

Quarterback Malik Willis played a key role, throwing two touchdown passes and running for another score. Willis completed 14 of 21 passes for 208 yards, including two touchdowns to rookie Caleb Douglas, and ran for 37 yards on eight carries. His decisive two-yard push on fourth-and-1 late in the game helped seal the win for Miami, WSVN 7News detailed.

The Dolphins started strong, scoring on their first two drives and taking an early lead. The Jets mounted a late rally, narrowing the score to 28-25 with just over three minutes left, but Miami's defense held firm. Geno Smith threw three touchdown passes for the Jets, including two to Mason Taylor, but penalties hindered their two-point conversion attempts, CBS News Miami reported.

Coach Jeff Hafley chose to go for it on a critical fourth-and-1 late in the game, relying on his offensive line's confidence. Willis successfully converted the play, which helped the Dolphins maintain possession and run out the clock, according to WSVN 7News.

The victory lifts the Dolphins to a 1-5 record, avoiding their first 0-6 start since 2019. The Jets fell to 2-5 and remain winless against AFC East opponents under their current coach, CBS News Miami noted.
