CBS News reported that over 7,500 restaurant locations across the United States have shut down in the first six months of 2026.
According to the report by Mark Strassmann, these closures are primarily due to rising operational costs coupled with declining sales figures.
The trend reflects significant challenges facing the restaurant industry nationwide, forcing many businesses to make difficult decisions about their viability.
