The State of Florida announced there will be no recount in the closely contested U.S. House races for District 7 and District 9, which cover parts of Central Florida including Orange and Osceola counties, WKMG News 6 ClickOrlando reported.

Florida law mandates a machine recount only when the vote margin is one-half of 1 percent or less of total votes cast. Both District 7 and District 9 races fell outside this threshold, so no recount will occur.

The Florida Department of State said only District 27 in South Florida and State House District 33 in Brevard County will have recounts. Official results will be certified by the Florida Elections Canvassing Commission on November 17, 2026.

Democratic incumbent Darren Soto faced a challenging race in District 9 after redistricting added more Republican-leaning areas. His Republican opponent was Dan Green, a military veteran and former deputy assistant secretary of defense.

Ryan Elijah, a former TV news anchor turned politician, posted on social media expressing honor at the faith placed in him by the people of Central Florida. He will replace U.S. Congressman Cory Mills, who has been involved in legal proceedings and is the subject of an ongoing House Ethics Committee investigation, according to WKMG.
