South Carolina wins 4th straight with 17-9 victory over Texas A&M
LaNorris Sellers leads No. 23 South Carolina to a 17-9 win over Texas A&M, marking the Gamecocks' fourth consecutive victory.
South Carolina's football team secured its fourth straight win by defeating Texas A&M 17-9, according to Live 5 WCSC. LaNorris Sellers threw for 251 yards and a touchdown and ran for the clinching score despite playing on an injured ankle.
The game was closely contested, with Malik Orsan's 43-yard field goal in the final quarter giving the Gamecocks a 10-9 lead. Sellers then sealed the victory with a 41-yard touchdown run in the last two minutes.
Texas A&M, which started the season ranked No. 8, has struggled recently, losing three of its last four games and ensuring a losing conference season. The Aggies outgained South Carolina in yards and time of possession but missed a key field goal early in the third quarter.
Sellers briefly left the game before halftime for an ankle X-ray but returned in the third quarter. Rueben Owens II led Texas A&M with 137 rushing yards. The Gamecocks have rebounded after an 0-3 SEC start with wins over ranked teams Florida and Tennessee.
The victory moves South Carolina to 6-3 overall and 4-3 in the Southeastern Conference, continuing their second-half season surge. Texas A&M falls to 4-5 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
South Carolina's comeback this season contrasts with Texas A&M's decline, as the Aggies were expected to contend for an SEC title but have fallen out of contention.
The Gamecocks' next games will be watched closely to see if they can maintain their winning streak and improve their standing in the SEC and College Football Playoff rankings.
