South Carolina Stingrays beat Orlando Solar Bears 4-1 at North Charleston Coliseum
The Stingrays bounced back from their first loss with a 4-1 win over Orlando on Friday night in North Charleston.
The South Carolina Stingrays rebounded from their first loss of the season by defeating the Orlando Solar Bears 4-1 on Friday night at the North Charleston Coliseum, according to ABC News 4 WCIV.
Goalkeeper Ben Kraws was strong in net, stopping 25 of 26 shots to earn his fifth win in as many starts this season. Four different Stingrays scored in the game, with Tyler Kopff opening the scoring just over five minutes into the game.
The game was physical, featuring a late second-period fight between Stingrays defenseman Jérémie Biakabutuka and Orlando’s Brennan Saulnier. This altercation led to a double-minor penalty against Orlando, and Zack Andrusiak scored on the ensuing power play to extend South Carolina’s lead to 2-0.
Orlando managed to cut the lead to one early in the third period during a 5-on-3 power play, but South Carolina responded with two more goals. Cam Morrison scored off a feed from Alex Gaffney, and Ludwig Persson added an empty-net goal in the final two minutes.
Biakabutuka emphasized the team’s focus on playing hard and with grit, which contributed to the win. The Stingrays are set to play the Orlando Solar Bears again on Saturday at the North Charleston Coliseum.
