Hundreds protested the UK ban on Palestine Action, with police arresting 139 for suspected support of the group.
Hundreds of protesters gathered outside the US Embassy in London to oppose the UK government’s ban on Palestine Action, according to Al Jazeera English.
The demonstration was the first major protest under Andy Burnham's premiership, with more than 100 people holding signs supporting Palestine Action, The Guardian reported.
Police began making arrests during the event, with a Metropolitan Police commander stating the demonstrators were 'essentially meeting to purposefully commit a crime,' The Guardian added.
Al Jazeera confirmed that 139 arrests were made, mostly on suspicion of expressing support for the proscribed organisation Palestine Action.
