Since this summer, 12 high school students from the Bay Area have been attending a classical oil painting workshop at Pacific Art League in Palo Alto, according to mv-voice.com, almanacnews.com, and Palo Alto Online.

The 15-week free atelier started in July and focuses on gesture drawing, observational techniques, and fundamentals of oil paint. Instructors emphasize classical methods that are typically hard to access outside major art centers.

Painter and atelier instructor Dustin Adamson noted that such training usually requires moving to places like Florence or New York City, but this program brings those opportunities locally.

The workshop is funded by a Peninsula resident's gift, enabling the Pacific Art League to offer 12 studio sessions without charging tuition, making classical art education more accessible to teens in the area.
