Palo Alto Online reported that a two-hour composting workshop will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at Gamble Garden, 1431 Waverley St., Palo Alto.

The workshop is designed for both beginners and experienced gardeners to learn how to turn kitchen scraps into nutrient-rich compost using worms.

Compost benefits plants by promoting stronger growth and improving moisture retention in soil, according to the event details.

Palo Alto residents attending the workshop can receive a free compost bin or worm bin, limited to one per household and while supplies last.

This event is part of a series of fall home and garden activities happening on the Peninsula in November, including flower arranging and nature walks, as noted by Palo Alto Online.
