Pompano Beach man arrested months after fatal Deerfield Beach crash
A man surrendered to authorities in connection with a high-speed crash in Deerfield Beach that killed his wife and injured three others.
A 63-year-old man from Pompano Beach was arrested after surrendering to authorities for a high-speed crash in Deerfield Beach that resulted in the death of his wife and injuries to three others, WSVN reported.
The Broward County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred on May 26 at the intersection of Northeast Third Avenue and 44th Street. The man was reportedly driving a Land Rover at nearly 90 mph when he collided with a stopped Nissan Rogue.
The impact caused the Rogue to roll over into a nearby home's fence, and the Land Rover then hit a white van, flipping multiple times. The man's wife was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene, according to WSVN.
The crash also caused significant property damage, and rescue crews transported the man and two other patients to the hospital. The Broward Sheriff's Office issued a warrant for his arrest in September, charging him with vehicular homicide and multiple counts of reckless driving.
At a recent court appearance, the man's bond was set at $156,000. His children had sought a lower bond to allow him to be at home during the case proceedings, WSVN reported.
